When choosing a substrate that aligns the base of the floor, under a laminate, linoleum or any other floor covering, many consider environmental friendliness to be the main criterion. In this case, a great option is a coniferous substrate, reviews of which are presented on our website. This type of substrate is made of coniferous wood and is excellent for use both in an apartment and in a private house. It not only levels the surface for subsequent finishing, but also has soundproofing properties.

Reviews on the use of coniferous underlay for flooring

Oh, we have such a coniferous substrate. Sound insulation is really very good !!! My husband and I could not sleep before the repairs because of the neighboring children, because they squealed and played for up to two nights. I used to think that neighbors can only be heard from above, but it turns out not. And after we made the repair and laid the coniferous substrate under the laminate, we don’t hear them at all.
pros
noise absorption

need to carefully unpack

Great substrate

We bought Steiko's coniferous substrate home. In use for more than three years. The floor does not creak, it does not crack anywhere (by the way, it protects the castle connection). When I chose, in reviews I read from many that sound insulation is good, I bought it for these purposes, but I could hardly believe it until I tried it.

We don’t really hear neighbors. although before it was something from the realm of fantasy, since there are old people who do not speak, but yell. I'm not saying anything about the TV. In a word: SATISFIED and RECOMMENDED!

My experience with a steiko substrate
A comment
I read the reviews and a little shocked. In general, it seems to me that a person does not delve into what he writes ((someone wrote that such a substrate is fire hazardous. Seriously? But it’s nothing that these plates do not support combustion and almost do not emit smoke! And they fully comply with DIN EN 13501-1 E. I myself laid steak coniferous underlay two years ago and I advise all clients only because it is not steamed with the floor, you do not need to make it perfectly even, small bumps and bumps smooth out perfectly.

Bugs and all that stuff is nonsense too. I checked on myself, nothing starts up anywhere. Maybe you stole some other company? Well, the main plus is noise reduction. We no longer live with neighbors as one friendly family who through the floor hear all the gossip)

Completed the repair, and I want to speak with regards to this coniferous substrate. To say that my delight is to say nothing. I laid it myself without any problems, given that I myself am far from being a builder. There were no problems with it, it is cut and laid simply. But the main thing is that she really insulated the floor. The wife and children calmly walk around the apartment barefoot, their legs do not freeze at all.The neighbors from below are practically inaudible, although they are lovers of walking. So, I put this substrate 5 out of 5.
pros
Solid pluses.
Minuses
Slight smell of wood.

Using a substrate in a prefabricated house
A comment
I am not fond of posting reviews, but I came across descriptions of authors above me and just could not pass by. The substrate is excellent, I have been lying for the 4th year, the thickness is 5.5 mm. When laying, there was no smell, hand paint did not get dirty, nobody choked and sneezed, they write some kind of nonsense. I can’t say anything about bugs, there’s no one, and where do they get them from in the apartment? Yes, hands itch a little, but it is worth rinsing with water and everything, nothing itches. This is still a building material, not a blanket. I want to note the soundproofing properties. When doing repairs, a nervous neighbor grandfather ran to me almost every evening while I was engaged in flooring. After laying it stopped coming. Started a dog, runs constantly - no tantrums from a neighbor. I thought that the laminate would walk - nothing of the kind, for a month the floor had "reclaimed" and now it is lying like a monogolite slab.
pros
good sound insulation
did not have to level out small irregularities in the floor
saved on raising the floor level - did not have to be flooded to fit the doors to height
lack of complaints about noise from neighbors beneath me
Minuses
price is higher than analogs, but worth it
no others
Term of use
more than five years

Eco-friendly and practical!

In the store, the seller recommended us a coniferous substrate for the laminate, from the company Steico, we bought it. It took a week to completely ram the floor, no movement is felt under the floor, everything fell into place. The substrate itself is 7 mm thick, with it you can compensate for small bumps in the floor. Manufacturer - Poland, 1 package is enough for 7 m2. Its cost is slightly less than 1000 per package. Of the main advantages of coniferous substrate, it can be noted its environmental friendliness.

We used it for the first time 2 years ago when we made repairs in the hall, now we will take only one for the rest of the rooms, I really liked it. The only thing to do with it should be careful, as it is very fragile and can easily be broken. In general, I recommend the uniquely coniferous substrate as an ecological, universal and practical product for your floor.
pros

Minuses
Easy to break

Weathered substrate - a splinter at the fifth point ...
A comment
The environmental friendliness of everything that gets into our house is very important for us. The floor covering was chosen according to this principle (parquet board), and the coniferous substrate was taken under it. And then it turned out that even she can smell very unpleasant. They spread it, according to the instructions, for 24 hours and breathed in not clearly than I can’t at all ...

The needles smell pleasantly, and we had a stench, even the neighbors felt on themselves. In addition, it turned out that such substrates are flammable, an excellent environment for parasites (my husband has an allergy, would quickly feel on himself) and crumble quite easily. I had to return the unpacked leftovers to the store (surprisingly, meekly accepted back). As the laying specialists later explained, normally the coniferous substrate should not have such an unpleasant odor, but it absorbs very easily all the “aromas” surrounding it. I don’t know where she stood ...
pros
environmental friendliness, but in our case it is in doubt
Minuses
fertile soil for parasites, crumble, fire hazard, easy to crumble, easily absorbs the surrounding odors, in our case there was initially a very strong “soul”
Term of use
less than a month

Doubtful environmental friendliness
A comment
In the repair of floors decided to use only natural materials. The most natural basis, convinced us in the store, is the coniferous substrate produced by trustworthy companies. Proof: the giant inscription "ECO" on the packaging. We were seduced, settled on 7-mm sheet models of a natural shade.

Immediately lay did not work. While the material was standing, it was saturated with various odors. The paint on some panels did not want to hold on, greatly dirty the hands of workers. All plates turned out to be loose in structure, brittle, not plastic and terribly crumbled. While the work went on, everyone in the house coughed or sneezed. In rooms where the bases were flat, the floor did not walk; in others, while sitting down, adapts.
pros
excellent assortment, there are options for good thickness (7 mm), low price
Minuses
some modifications get dirty; all bend, break, partially crumble, spreading the dust causing coughing; quickly saturated with odors; fit well only on a smooth base
Term of use
a few months
